Proper of the Dormition Divine Liturgy

While I was in attendance at a Byzantine Rite Liturgy to-day for the feast of the Assumption, I didn't have to hand the Propers of the feast; for interest's sake, here they are:

Antiphons

Through the prayers of the Theotokos, O Saviour, save us!

O Son of God, wondrous in Thy saints; save us who sing to Thee: Alleluia!

Troparion

In giving birth, you preserved your virginity! In falling asleep you did not forsake the world, O Theotokos! You were translated to life, O Mother of Life, and by your prayers you deliver our souls from death!

Kontakion

Neither the tomb, nor death, could hold the Theotokos, who is constant in prayer and our firm hope in her intercessions. For being the Mother of Life, she was translated to life by the One who dwelt in her virginal womb!

Prokeimenon (St Luke i, 46b-48)

My soul magnifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour!
For He has regarded the low estate of His handmaiden: For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed.

Alleluia Verses (Psalm 131:8,11b)

Arise and go to Thy rest: Thou and the Ark of Thy might!
The Lord swore Truth to David from which He will not turn back!

Megalynarion

Seeing the dormition of the Most Pure One, the Angels were filled with awe at how the Virgin went from earth to heaven.

The limits of nature are overcome in you, O Pure Virgin: for birthgiving remains virginal and life is united to death! A virgin after childbearing and alive after death! You ever save your inheritance, O Theotokos!

Communion (Psalm 115:4)

I will receive the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord!
